The goal of the UBC School Psychology Student Association (UBC-SPSA) is to:
- Student Representation at UBC: The SPSA aims to facilitate communication between students and program faculty, and promote School Psychology student needs and interests regarding their academic program. The SPSA represents students at program faculty meetings, works with other program student representatives and organizations, meets with the Department Head, communicates with the Graduate Students Association, and the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
- Social Activities for Students: The SPSA aims to promote student interaction and a sense of community across cohorts through social activities. The SPSA organizes several events throughout the year, including the annual fall student-faculty retreat, pub nights, and recreational events.
- Support Professional Development: The SPSA aims to provide additional opportunities for School Psychology professional development and training, and provide linkages and opportunities to other professionals and organizations that provide psychological services to youth. Our goal is to act as a forum for innovative ideas to benefit the Program, Department, University, and surrounding professional community.
- Communication. The SPSA aims to provide information about past and current student activities. SPSA members are available to provide a student perspective about our program to interested students.
